The Sun and the Moon (2024)
UV ink on laser print, curtain
There are many stories associated with the rising and setting of the sun and moon - passage of time and rebirth. The Sun and the Moon explores the feminine connotation of ‘shams’ (Arabic for ‘sun’) and the masculine connotation of ‘qamar’ (Arabic for ‘moon’), offering a differing narrative when compared against western narratives.
“Behind every successful man is the love and support of a woman.” At the core this piece seeks to celebrate the efforts of women.
The cross printing technique used in this print is the end product of 6 months of research which began in January 2024 at an artist residency with The Supper House.
